Statement on the Election of the New Pope
May 8, 2025The Alliance to End Human Trafficking welcomes the election of Leo XIV, offering our prayers and support as he begins his papal ministry. We give thanks for the continuity of leadership within the Catholic Church and the renewed hope that comes with this sacred transition.
For many around the world, the pope is a global moral voice for justice, peace, and human dignity. As an organization rooted in the Catholic tradition, we are deeply encouraged by the Church’s continued commitment to uplifting the most vulnerable, including those affected by human trafficking.
“We look forward to walking with Pope Leo XIV as he carries forward the Church’s mission of compassion and justice,” said Katie Boller Gosewisch, Executive Director of the Alliance to End Human Trafficking. “In partnership with networks like Talitha Kum, we remain committed to the global movement to end human trafficking and protect human dignity in every corner of the world.”
We are grateful for the ongoing collaboration between religious communities, organizations like the Alliance, and all people of good will. The Alliance to End Human Trafficking remains steadfast in its mission, and we are eager to continue building on this strong and meaningful relationship as we walk together on the newest chapter of the Church’s journey.
